New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC, https://nysbc.org) seeks a Staff Scientist in the area of NMR spectroscopy. The primary responsibility of the position is to support the operation of the Center’s 9 Bruker NMR spectrometers (ranging from 500 – 900 MHz) with a focus on solid-state NMR instrumentation, which includes 600 MHz (equipped for dynamic nuclear polarization, DNP), 750 MHz, and 900 MHz instruments. The Staff Scientist provides technical support to a broad range of users primarily from the nine NYSBC Member Institutions, but including other proprietary and academic organizations as needed, on experimental set-up, data collection, processing, and analysis. The Staff Scientist contributes to the research, training and other activities of the Center on Macromolecular Dynamics by NMR Spectroscopy at NYSBC (http://comdnmr.nysbc.org). The Staff Scientist is encouraged to identify and develop independent research projects in collaboration with investigators at NYSBC Member Institutions.
Required Qualifications. A Ph.D in Biochemistry or Chemistry with research experience in biological solid-state NMR spectroscopy and a strong publication record. Experience with multinuclear multidimensional CPMAS experiments, Bruker software and hardware, pulse programming, knowledge of basic electronics, and experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications. At least 1-3 years postdoctoral experience. Experience with low temperature DNP NMR spectroscopy. Experience maintaining and repairing NMR instrumentation. Experience with biological solution state NMR spectroscopy in addition to solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
NYSBC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. To apply, send a cover letter, CV and three references
