ACS Omega - In The News

WorldQuant Predictive (WQP), an AI predictive products company, and CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society that specializes in scientific information solutions, have partnered to develop a groundbreaking methodology that can save time and lives by helping research teams rapidly prioritize the most promising drug candidates to treat COVID-19 and other critical diseases. The scientific paper detailing this methodology and collaboration was recently published in ACS Omega.
News coverage… for the wrong reasons! Or are they good?
As for most wildlife, the Sonoran Desert toad’s natural habitat in northern Mexico and the southern United States has been severely encroached on by human development. In addition, this toad has one more reason to be worries: from its glands you can extract a potent psychedelic compound. A recent study in the journal ACS Omega outlines a new method for synthesizing 5-MeO-DMT that is 99.86 percent pure. According to the authors, psychedelic research is currently being hindered by a lack of access to pure research chemicals, yet they believe their method could now be used to produce the drug for clinical trials.

Among the many initiatives to increase access to clean water, the scientific community has focused on wastewater remediation through the utilization of bioderived materials, such as nanocellulosics. Nanocellulosics, derived from cellulose, have the advantages of being ubiquitous, nontoxic, and excellent adsorbents.
